DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy University Baseball Team is ranked No. 7 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Top 10 Poll.
Mercy enters the poll after receiving votes to start the season. The Mavericks have gone 5-3 to open the season for the second straight year. Mercy has been led by sophomore Matthew Hesselbirg who is batting a team-high .500 with five RBI and by senior Kolongi Goins who is batting .440 with six RBI. Sophomore Ryan DiNapoli is 2-0 with a 0.84 ERA in 10.2 innings with four strikeouts and sophomore Andre Jenkins is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 11.0 innings.
Head Coach Chris Schoen and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday, February 28th when they play at Southern Connecticut State at 12 p.m.
