COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Softball senior Mackayla Secoda (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Softball Pitcher of the Week for Week Six and juniors Julianna Coluccio (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) and Dylan Reyer (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin), sophomore Lauren McSweeney (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and freshman Madelyn Perrone (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll.
Secoda went 1-0 in the circle with a 1.75 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 16.0 innings pitched. The senior opened the week with 6.0 innings pitched, one earned run allowed and six strikeouts against STAC on Tuesday. The pitcher then threw a complete game with three runs allowed and five strikeouts to earn the win over D'Youville on Saturday. Secoda ended the week with 3.0 shutout innings pitched and five strikeouts in game one against Jefferson on Sunday.
Coluccio hit a team-high .412 (7-for-17) with a team-high seven RBI as Mercy went 3-3 on the week. The junior also added three runs, two doubles and one home run. The third baseman opened the week going 1-for-6 with an RBI in the doubleheader against STAC on Tuesday. Coluccio then went 3-for-5 with two runs, a home run and five RBI in the sweep of D'Youville on Saturday. The junior ended the week going 3-for-6 with a run and an RBI in the split against Jefferson on Sunday.
Reyer hit .294 (5-for-17) with two runs and one stolen base as Mercy went 3-3 on the week. The junior opened the week going 2-for-6 in the doubleheader against STAC on Tuesday. The outfielder then went 3-for-6 with two runs in the sweep of D'Youville on Saturday.
McSweeney went 1-1 in the circle with a 2.83 ERA and six strikeouts in 17.1 innings pitched. The sophomore opened the week with a complete game against STAC on Tuesday, allowing four runs and striking out three. The pitcher then pitched 5.1 innings with three runs allowed and one strikeout against D'Youville on Saturday. McSweeney ended the week pitching 5.0 shutout innings of relief with just one hit allowed and two strikeouts to earn the win in game two against Jefferson on Sunday.
Perrone hit .333 (5-for-15) with three RBI, one double and one run as Mercy went 3-3 on the week. The freshman went 1-for-3 with a run in the game one win over D'Youville on Saturday. Perrone then went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a two-run walk-off RBI single in the seventh inning to give Mercy a 6-5 come-from-behind win in game two against D'Youville. The freshman ended the week going 2-for-3 with an RBI in the game two win over Jefferson on Sunday.
The award is the second for Secoda this season and the first for Coluccio, Reyer, McSweeney and Perrone. Mercy has now earned nine awards on the year.
Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo and the Mavericks resume action tomorrow when they host Bridgeport at 2:30 p.m.
