COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Softball juniors Allison Murphy (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) and Averi Miller (Las Vegas, Nev./Arbor View), sophomores Lauren McSweeney (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and Jessica Fox (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) and freshman Makayla Rady (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls) have been named to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Softball Honor Roll for Week Nine.
Murphy hit a team-high .538 (7-for-13) with a team-high six RBI, four runs, two doubles, one triple, a .600 on base percentage and .846 slugging percentage as Mercy went 2-2 on the week. The junior opened the week going 2-for-6 with two RBI, a double and a run at STAC on Tuesday. The second baseman ended the week going 5-for-7 with four RBI, one double, one triple and three runs in the sweep at D'Youville on Sunday.
Miller hit .333 (5-for-15) with two runs, two RBI and one double as Mercy went 2-2 on the week. The junior went 2-for-7 with one run at STAC on Tuesday. The shortstop ended the week going 3-for-8 with two RBI, a run and a double in the sweep at D'Youville on Sunday.
McSweeney went 1-1 with a 3.23 ERA, two complete games and two strikeouts in 13.0 innings pitched. The sophomore allowed five runs at first-place STAC on Tuesday in six innings. The pitcher ended the week with a complete game allowing just one run and four hits while striking out two to earn the win in Mercy's game-one win at D'Youville on Sunday.
Fox hit .333 (2-for-6) with three RBI, a double and a run scored in two games this week. The sophomore went 1-for-2 with a run at STAC on Tuesday and ended the week going 1-for-4 with three RBI and a double in the game two win at D'Youville on Sunday.
Rady hit .375 (3-for-8) with two runs and one RBI as Mercy went 2-2 on the week. The freshman went 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI in the sweep at D'Youville on Sunday.
The award is the third for Murphy this season, the third for Miller, the third for McSweeney, the first for Fox and the first for Rady. Mercy has now earned 24 awards on the year.
Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo and the Mavericks resume action tomorrow when they host Post at 2:30 p.m.
