Softball Under Consideration for a Spot in NCAA Tournament in First Regional Rankings

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy University Softball Team is one of nine teams currently under consideration for a spot in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship, according to the first East Region Regional Rankings released earlier today. For this week, schools are listed as "under consideration" for championship selection in alphabetical order.

Eight teams are taken from the East, Atlantic, Central, Midwest, South Central, South, Southeast and West Regions to make up the tournament field. The winners of the ECC, CACC and NE10 Conference Tournaments earn automatic bids to the tournament from the East Region. Mercy looks to qualify for the program's second-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the first since 2017. The Mavericks are currently 20-14 on the year.

Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo and the Mavericks resume action on Friday, April 24th when they host Queens at 2:30 p.m.
