Jackson Named ECC Softball Rookie of the Week; Murphy, Miller, Coluccio and Secoda Tabbed to Honor Roll

COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Softball freshman Emma Jackson (Marlboro, N.Y./Marlboro) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week for the second time this season and juniors Allison Murphy (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland), Julianna Coluccio (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) and Averi Miller (Las Vegas, Nev./Arbor View) and senior Mackayla Secoda (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll for Week 10.

Jackson hit .500 (8-for-16) with six runs, three RBI, two triples and one double as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The freshman opened the week going 4-for-7 with four runs, three RBI, a triple and a double in the sweep of Post on Tuesday. Jackson ended the week going 4-for-4 with two runs and a triple in game one against Queens on Friday.

Murphy hit a team-high .533 (8-for-15) with a team-high seven runs to go with three RBI, three stolen bases and one double as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The junior opened the week going 5-for-7 with six runs, two RBI, a double and two stolen bases in the sweep of Post on Tuesday. The second baseman recorded her 100th career run scored in game two. Murphy ended the week going 3-for-8 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base in the split against Queens on Friday.

Coluccio hit .353 (6-for-17) with three runs, two home runs, eight RBI, two stolen bases and one double as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The junior opened the week going 5-for-8 with eight RBI, two home runs, three runs and two stolen bases in the sweep of Post on Tuesday. Coluccio ended the week going 1-for-5 in the game two win over Queens on Friday.

Miller hit .375 (6-for-16) with a team-high nine RBI to go with one home run, four doubles and four runs as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The junior opened the week going 3-for-7 with three runs, six RBI and three doubles in the sweep of Post on Tuesday. Miller ended the week going 3-for-9 with three RBI, a home run, a double and one run in the split against Queens on Friday.

Secoda went 1-0 with a 3.07 ERA, one save, and nine strikeouts in 13.2 innings. The senior pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the save in Mercy's game-one win over Post on Tuesday. Secoda ended the week pitching a nine-inning complete game with three runs allowed and two strikeouts to earn the game-two win over Queens on Friday.

The award is the third for Jackson this season, the fourth for Murphy, the fourth for Miller, the third for Coluccio and the third for Secoda. Mercy has now earned 29 awards on the year.

Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday when they play at CSI at 12 p.m.
