McSweeney Named ECC Softball Pitcher of the Week; Murphy, Miller, Stark and Perrone Tabbed to Honor Roll

COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Softball sophomore Lauren McSweeney (Islip, N.Y./Islip) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Softball Pitcher of the Week and juniors Allison Murphy (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) and Averi Miller (Las Vegas, Nev./Arbor View), senior Elizabeth Stark (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and freshman Madelyn Perrone (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll for Week Seven.

McSweeney went 2-0 in the circle with a 2.19 ERA and six strikeouts in 16.0 innings pitched across three appearances. The sophomore pitched 5.0 shutout innings with two hits allowed and one strikeout to earn the win in game two at Molloy on Thursday. The pitcher ended the week pitching an eight-inning complete game with just five hits and one run allowed to go with three strikeouts to earn the game two win at Queens on Saturday.

Murphy hit .520 (13-for-25) with a team-high nine RBI, seven runs, one home run and two doubles as Mercy went 5-1 on the week. The junior also had two stolen bases. The second baseman opened the week going 5-for-8 with two RBI and two runs in the sweep of Bridgeport on Tuesday. Murphy then went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs in the game two win at Molloy on Thursday. The junior ended the week going 6-for-9 with five RBI, three runs, two doubles and a home run in the sweep at Queens on Saturday.

Miller hit .455 (10-for-22) with four RBI, five stolen bases, four runs, one double and one triple as Mercy went 5-1 on the week. The junior opened the week going 3-for-8 with a run in Mercy's sweep of Bridgeport on Tuesday. The shortstop then went 4-for-4 with three RBI, a double and a triple, recording her 100th career hit in the Mavericks' game two win at Molloy on Thursday. Miller ended the week going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI in the game two win at Queens on Saturday.

Stark hit a team-high .529 (9-for-17) with four RBI, three runs and one double as Mercy went 5-1 on the week. The senior opened the week going 4-for-6 with three RBI and two runs in the sweep of Bridgeport on Tuesday. Stark then went 2-for-3 in game one at Molloy on Thursday before going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run in the game one win at Queens on Saturday.

Perrone hit .381 (8-for-21) with two RBI and four runs scored as Mercy went 5-1 on the week. The freshman opened the week going 3-for-6 with three runs and an RBI in the sweep of Bridgeport on Tuesday. Perrone then went 2-for-3 in game one at Molloy on Thursday before going 3-for-9 with an RBI and a run in the sweep of Queens on Saturday.

The award is the second earned by McSweeney this season, the first for Murphy, the first for Miller, the first for Stark and the second for Perrone. Mercy has now earned 14 awards on the year.

Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo and the Mavericks resume action tomorrow when they play at Pace at 2 p.m.
