DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy University Softball Team has received the program's second-ever bid into the 2026 NCAA Division II Softball Championship. The Mavericks earned the No. 8 seed in the East Region by virtue of going 25-18. Mercy has earned their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2017. The regional will be held from Thursday, May 14th to Saturday, May 16th at top-seeded Franklin Pierce University.
Mercy will now play at No. 1 seed Franklin Pierce in Game 1 of the double-elimination East 1 bracket on Thursday, May 14th at 2 p.m. The winner of Thursday's game will play the winner of No. 4 Caldwell/No. 5 Assumption on Friday, May 15th at 12 p.m. The loser of Thursday's game will play the loser of Caldwell/Assumption on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The Mavericks last faced the Ravens in 2024.
The Mavericks are making their second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Mercy has their most wins since 2018 and qualified for the ECC Championship for the sixth straight season. Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo and the Mavericks have been led by First Team All-ECC selections juniors Allison Murphy, Averi Miller and Dylan Reyer, ECC Co-Rookie of the Year freshman Emma Jackson and Second Team All-ECC honoree Lauren McSweeney.
