COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Baseball junior Dylan Koch (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Pace University) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Player of the Week for Week 12 and seniors Zach Ashline (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) and John Nisco (Tarrytown, N.Y./Sleepy Hollow), junior Nevin Scaperotti (Stormville, N.Y./Carmel) and sophomore Omar Giret (New Fairfield, Conn./Kennedy Catholic Prep) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll.
Koch hit a team-high .611 (11-for-18) with a team-high six RBI and five runs as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The junior also had a team-high four doubles with a home run, ending the week with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .632 on base percentage. The junior went 2-for-5 with an RBI in the win over Queens on Thursday. Koch then went 5-for-8 with three runs, two RBI, two doubles and a home run in the split at Queens on Friday. The junior ended the week going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles and two runs in the win over Queens on Saturday.
Ashline hit .500 (7-for-14) with a home run, five RBI, four runs, one double, one triple and one stolen base as Mercy went 3-1. The senior went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run in the win over Queens on Thursday. The outfielder then went 4-for-8 with four RBI, two runs, a double and a home run in the split at Queens on Friday. Ashline set a school record with his 26th career home run in the game one win. The senior ended the week going 2-for-3 with a run and a triple in the win over Queens on Saturday.
Nisco hit .467 (7-for-15) with two RBI, three runs, one double and two stolen bases as Mercy went 3-1. The senior went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the win over Queens on Thursday. The outfielder then went 3-for-8 with three runs and a double in the split at Queens on Friday. Nisco ended the week going 2-for-3 with an RBI in the win over Queens on Saturday.
Giret allowed no earned runs in 2.2 innings with one strikeout to earn his first collegiate win over Queens on Saturday.
The award is the fourth for Koch this season, the third for Ashline, the fourth for Nisco, the eighth for Scaperotti and the first for Giret. Mercy has now earned 42 awards on the year.
Head Coach Chris Schoen and the Mavericks resume action on Thursday when they face STAC in the ECC Championship at 3 p.m. at the Mitchel Athletic Complex.
