SPARKILL, N.Y. – The #2 seeded Mercy University Softball Team opens ECC Championship play on Thursday, May 7th at 3 p.m. against #3 seeded D'Youville University at St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Mercy earned a 7-3 win and dropped a 6-5 decision at CSI on May 2, 2026.

Scouting the Mavericks

Mercy is coming off a 7-3 win and 6-5 loss at CSI on Saturday. The Mavericks were led by junior Dylan Reyer who had a team-high three RBI. Mercy is making their sixth straight ECC Championship appearance. The Mavericks look to win their first ECC Championship since 2017.

Mercy has been led by junior Julianna Coluccio who is hitting .336 with 34 RBI and five home runs. Junior Averi Miller is hitting a team-high .414 with 30 RBI and 14 stolen bases. Miller recorded her 100th career hit against Molloy on April 2nd. Freshman Emma Jackson is hitting .322 with 16 RBI and five doubles. Junior Allison Murphy has a team-high 40 RBI and 40 runs with a .369 average. She recorded her 100th career hit against Saint Anselm on March 16th and her 100th career run against Post on April 21st. Junior Dylan Reyer is hitting .308 with 17 RBI and 27 runs. Freshman Madelyn Perrone is hitting .276 with 13 RBI and nine runs and sophomore Mikaela Mammola is hitting .301 with eight RBI and 19 runs. The pitching staff is led by freshman Juliana Abbene who is 4-2 with a 4.86 ERA in 31.2 innings with 19 strikeouts. Sophomore Lauren McSweeney is 8-6 with a 2.82 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 84.1 innings and senior Mackayla Secoda is 9-4 with a 3.30 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 93.2 innings with one save.

Miller, Coluccio, Secoda, McSweeney and Perrone were named to the ECC Honor Roll on May 4th. Jackson was named ECC Rookie of the Week on April 27th and Murphy, Miller, Coluccio and Secoda were tabbed to the Honor Roll. Murphy, Miller, McSweeney, Rady and Fox were named to the ECC Honor Roll on April 20th. Jackson was named ECC Rookie of the Week on April 13th and Murphy, Miller, Coluccio and Provencio were named to the Honor Roll. McSweeney was named ECC Pitcher of the Week on April 6th and Murphy, Miller, Stark and Perrone were named to the Honor Roll. Secoda was named ECC Pitcher of the Week on March 30th, and Coluccio, Reyer, McSweeney and Perrone were named to the Honor Roll. Mammola and Secoda were named to the ECC Honor Roll on March 23rd. Abbene was named ECC Rookie of the Week on March 16th and Jackson was tabbed to the Honor Roll.

The Mavericks were ranked seventh in the second NCAA East Regional Rankings released on April 29th.

Leading the returners for the Mavericks is junior Allison Murphy who was named Second Team All-ECC last season after hitting a team-high .353 with 32 RBI, 32 runs, 53 hits and 15 doubles. Junior Dylan Reyer also returns after being named Second Team All-ECC a year ago. Reyer hit .312 with 29 hits, 13 runs, three triples and seven RBI. Junior Averi Miller returns after hitting .261 with 18 RBI, 23 runs and 11 doubles. Returning in the circle is senior Mackayla Secoda who went 4-6 with a 4.09 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 65.0 innings. Sophomore Lauren McSweeney is back after going 6-2 with a 4.67 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 51.0 innings.

Also returning is sophomore Jessica Fox who started 42 games last season and hit .261 with 14 RBI and 31 hits. Sophomore Keira Jantz is back after hitting .245 in 40 starts with 11 RBI and 25 hits and sophomore Mikaela Mammola returns after hitting .324 in 20 games with six stolen bases. Junior Onnika DeBruhl is back after playing in 15 games with three stolen bases and sophomore Talia Salanto hit .232 last year with 10 RBI, and 19 hits. Senior Elizabeth Stark started 15 games last season and is back after recording two hits and sophomore Alexis Lemus returns after playing in 15 games with five hits last season. Junior Julianna Coluccio also returns after hitting .300 in 2024 with nine RBI and six stolen bases.

Returning in the circle is senior Marina Provencio who appeared in five games with 9.2 innings pitched and four strikeouts last season. Sophomore Carly Gaffney started five games last year and returns after pitching 16.2 innings in 2025.

Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo will also look to freshmen Emma Jackson, Madelyn Perrone, Juliana Abbene, Mya Marelli, Kady Olsen, Makayla Rady, Emma Medina and Peighton McKenna to contribute immediately. Sophomore Kayla Zimmerman joins the Mavericks from American International College where she played in 13 games as a freshman.

Scouting the Saints

D'Youville is coming off a 5-3 win and 5-4 loss at Molloy on Saturday. The Saints are making their second straight ECC Championship appearance after winning their first ECC Championship last season. D'Youville was ranked ninth in the NCAA Regional Rankings released on April 29th. D'Youville has been led by Frankie Morris who is batting a team-high .441 with 23 RBI, 24 doubles and 23 runs. Danielle Fenlong is second on the team with a .366 average to go with 17 RBI and Jorja Sandilands has a team-high 27 RBI and four home runs. Summer Clark is 15-6 with a 2.04 ERA and 110 strikeouts in 137.1 innings. Kendal Lehnen is 4-6 with a 5.66 ERA in 80.1 innings.

Scouting the Spartans

STAC is coming off 9-0 and 4-1 wins over CSI on Friday, extending their winning streak to 15 games. The Spartans won their fourth straight ECC Regular Season Championship and look to win their third tournament championship. STAC was ranked second in the NCAA Regional Rankings released on April 29th. The Spartans have been led by Sofia Marella who has a team-high 52 RBI and 13 home runs with a .440 average and 26 runs. Trinadey Santiago is second on the team with 36 RBI and nine home runs and Emma Grace Popp is 16-1 with a 3.17 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 132.1 innings. Lauren Falk is 14-8 with a 3.24 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 123.1 innings.

Scouting the Dolphins

CSI is coming off a 7-3 loss and 6-5 win over Mercy on Saturday. The Dolphins are making their first ECC Championship appearance. CSI has been led by Abbie Morris who is batting a team-high .385 with nine RBI and 11 runs. Madilyn Paul is hitting .364 with 18 runs and eight RBI and Aliveah Warner has a team-high 18 RBI with 12 doubles. Marena Grenier is 8-10 with a 3.97 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 116.1 innings. Kennedie Ruth is 4-10 with a 6.62 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 98.1 innings.
