NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Mercy University Women's Lacrosse Team has been named the IWLCA Division II Academic Merit Squad after completing the 2025-26 academic year with the highest grade-point average of all Division II women's lacrosse teams. The Mavericks earned the honor for the second time in program history.

Head Coach Dawn Sachs and the Mavericks earn the accolade for the first time since 2024 after beating out 65 other Division II institutions that had also received Honor Squad recognition. The Mavericks were named an Academic Honor Squad for the 11th straight season, and 11 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll. Mercy finished the academic year with a GPA of 3.82.

The Mavericks take home the Merit Squad honor after earning the ECC Academic Team of Excellence for having the highest GPA of all ECC women's lacrosse teams.

Mercy went 16-4 during the 2026 season, winning the ECC Regular Season and Tournament Championships and earning the first NCAA Tournament win in program history. The Mavericks ended the season ranked No. 14 nationally in the IWLCA Poll and matched a program record with its 16 wins this season.
