Shimborske had a strong month in May, helping lead the Mavericks to the ECC Championship Final for the seventh straight season. The junior had a team-high 13 draw controls, 10 ground balls and four caused turnovers in two games. The ECC Defender of the Year opened the month with eight ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers in Mercy’s ECC Semifinal win over D’Youville on May 2nd. The IWLCA First Team All-American and USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team All-American then had seven draw controls and two ground balls in Mercy’s ECC Final overtime loss at Roberts Wesleyan on May 5th. The IWLCA First Team All-Region recipient ended the season with a team-high 58 ground balls, 41 caused turnovers and 114 draw controls.
