Shimborske had a strong month of February for the Mavericks, recording a team-high nine caused turnovers, eight ground balls and 17 draw controls as Mercy went 2-0 during the month. The ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year began the season with a game-high five caused turnovers, eight draw controls and four ground balls in Mercy’s 15-3 win over Georgian Court on February 19th. The two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week and IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week during the month ended the month with a game-high nine draw controls, four caused turnovers and four ground balls in the Mavericks’ 11-10 win at No. 16 New Haven on February 26th. The senior helped lead Mercy to their first 2-0 start since 2021 and has a 3.99 GPA in the classroom.
