Ursula Gregg was a standout women’s basketball player for Mercy College from 1982-86. She still ranks high on many of the program’s all-time career leaderboards including first in field goals made (726), second in points (1,654), third in games played (115), fifth in steals (323) and field goals attempted (1,480), seventh in points per game (14.4), eighth in assists (393), and 11th in blocks (42).

Gregg also ranks near the top in many single-season records, including: second in points (517, 1985-86 season), third in points per game (18.5, 1985-86 season), sixth in steals (98, 1982-83 season), seventh in steals (90, 1985-86 season), and ninth in steals (76, 1984-85 season).

As a freshman, Gregg was part of the Flyers’ squad that notched a 20-12 record. During that season, Gregg averaged 13.8 points per game, which was good for second on the team. The Flyers bettered that impressive record the next season with a 22-8 finish. In her junior year, Mercy recorded a 22-7 record, continuing the program’s string of impressive success. The team’s good fortunes were due in part to Gregg’s 14.3 points per contest, which ranked second on the club. In her final season, where Gregg averaged a career-high 18.5 points per game to lead the team, Mercy compiled a 19-9 record. Over her tenure at Mercy, Gregg was part of four teams that combined for 83 wins and only 36 losses -- an astounding .697 winning percentage.

During the 1984-85 season, Gregg eclipsed the 1,000-career point milestone along with three of her teammates within a few months of each other. Stacey Gillepsie, Joyce LeNoir and Noreen Annunziata, along with Gregg, all reached 1,000 career points that year as juniors. Gillepsie (Inducted ‘06) and Annunziata (Inducted ‘09) are Mercy Athletics Hall of Famers as well.
