Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy snapped a four-game losing streak with their 76-68 win over New York Tech on Saturday. The Mavericks currently sit 1.5 games behind Queens for the sixth and final ECC Tournament spot with five games left to play. Mercy ranks fourth in the ECC in free throws made (291) and third in attempts (427). The Mavericks also rank No. 3 in the ECC in rebounds per game (39.1) and blocks per game (3.5). Mercy is looking to win at Roberts Wesleyan for the first time in program history and are looking to beat Daemen for the first time ever. Leading the Mavericks is redshirt junior Bryan Griffin who is a one-time ECC Player of the Week and three-time Defensive Player of the Week. Griffin currently leads Division II in rebounds per game (14.4) and defensive rebounds per game (10.63). The forward also is No. 4 nationally in total rebounds (273) and double-doubles (14). Griffin also leads the Mavericks with 18.9 points per game (No. 4 in ECC) and 2.1 blocks per game (No. 1 in ECC). Griffin needs just 11 points to become the 14th Maverick to reach 1,000 points for his career. Junior Nakeem Hamilton is second on the team with 12.4 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 2.3 assists per game. One-time ECC Rookie of the Week Garrett Kirkland is third on the team with 7.7 points per game and junior Dayvon Cuffey is averaging 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game over the last two games.
Scouting the Redhawks
Roberts Wesleyan is currently on a nine-game losing streak and is coming off a 113-86 loss at Bridgeport on Sunday. The Redhawks are 0-8 at home and are fourth in the ECC in three-pointers made (172) and attempted (532). Roberts Wesleyan also shoots an ECC-best 76.2 percent from the foul line with the second most makes (342) and attempts (449) in the ECC. The Redhawks are led by junior Reggie Clark who is fifth in the ECC with 16.9 points per game and shoots 46.4 percent from the floor. Clark also makes 2.4 threes per game and shoots 87.0 percent from the foul line. Junior Armon Nasseri is second on the team with 14.9 points per game and leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game. Redshirt freshman Amari Lee is a four-time ECC Rookie of the Week and is third on the team with 13.4 points per game and leads the Redhawks with 4.0 assists per game.
Scouting the Wildcats
Daemen has won five of their last six games and is coming off an 84-74 win over Queens in their last game Sunday. The Wildcats will face No. 12/15 St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday before hosting the Mavericks. Daemen is currently in third place in the ECC standings and is 11-1 at home on the season. The Wildcats are ranked No. 5 in the D2SIDA East Region Media Poll and are second in the ECC in points per game (81.1). Daemen shoots an ECC-best 47.6 percent from the floor and 38.5 percent from downtown. The Wildcats lead the ECC in three-pointers made (240) and attempted (623) and shoot 76.1 percent from the foul line (No. 2 in ECC). Daemen is also second in the ECC in points per game allowed (72.9) and third in field goal percentage defense (43.4). Five-time ECC Player of the Week and two-time Defensive Player of the Week junior Andrew Sischo leads the ECC in points per game (24.4) and field goal percentage (63.4), while ranking second in rebounds per game (11.6). Senior Jeff Redband is a one-time ECC Player of the Week and is averaging 13.8 points per game with a team-high 3.4 made threes per game. Senior Breon Harris averages 12.1 points per game and two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week senior Joey Wallace posts 11.3 points per game.
