Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is coming off a 12-6 win over Southern N.H. in their season opener last Friday. The Mavericks are looking to defeat the Falcons for the first time in program history after dropping two prior meetings. Mercy is looking to start 2-0 for the fifth straight season. The Mavericks were led in their opener by sophomore Madeline Garvalosa who made a career-high 18 saves in her first career start and was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week. Senior Brittani Sergio had a team-high four points on three goals and an assist and junior Casey Shimborske finished with two goals and an assist. Sophomores Taylor Bishop and Erin Chalich both recorded two goals in the win and sophomore Micayla Brady had an assist and a team-high three caused turnovers.
Scouting the Falcons
Bentley opened their 2020 season on Wednesday with a 17-8 win at Molloy. The Falcons went 11-6 last season and qualified for the NE10 Tournament. Leading Bentley is senior goalkeeper Eliza Bresler who was named First Team All-American and NE10 Goalie of the Year last season. She made eight saves in the win over Molloy to pick up the win. Junior Sandrine Heller finished with a team-high six points on four goals and two assists against Molloy and sophomore Christine Fish recorded three goals and one assist. Sophomore Glenna Gies, junior Julia Glavin and freshman Kenzie Lupton all finished with two goals and one assist in the win. Junior Dana Lewandowski had a team-high three caused turnovers along with two ground balls.
