Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is coming off a 13-9 win over Jefferson on Wednesday in their home opener. The Mavericks are looking to start 4-0 for the fourth straight season and are looking to beat their highest ranked opponent in program history. Mercy is led by ECC Offensive Player of the Week senior Katherine Sanchez who has a team-high 11 points on ten goals and one assist. She is two points shy of 200 for her career and has a team-high 12 draw controls. Junior Casey Shimborske is second on the team with seven points on five goals and two assists. Junior Briana Corace is coming off a game-high four goals and one assist against Jefferson and has five goals and one assist on the year. Sophomores Erin Chalich and Taylor Bishop and senior Brittani Sergio all have four goals and one assist on the year. Sophomore Micayla Brady has a team-high nine caused turnovers along with a team-high-tying nine ground balls. Sophomore Madeline Garvalosa is 3-0 in goal with 32 saves, a .571 save percentage and 8.00 goals against average.
Scouting the Dolphins
Le Moyne sits atop the IWLCA poll after earning a 19-2 win over No. 17 Mercyhurst on Sunday. The Dolphins went 20-2 last season, advancing to the East Region final before falling to eventual national champion Adelphi in double-overtime. Le Moyne has won the NE10 Championship each of the last three seasons and won the National Championship in 2018. The Dolphins were led in their season opener by Sidney Hall who had a team-high four goals and three assists against Mercyhurst. Nicole Delany added four goals and an assist and Erin McMullen posted three goals and two assists. The 2019 IWLCA Goalkeeper of the Year Hannah George leads Le Moyne in goal and opened the season with ten saves and a .833 save percentage in the win over Mercyhurst on Sunday.
