Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy had their three-game winning streak snapped by a 14-9 loss to No. 1 Le Moyne on Saturday. The Mavericks are looking to pick up their second win of the season over a ranked opponent. Mercy is currently ranked No. 14 in the nation in save percentage (.513) and is No. 29 in scoring defense (9.5). Senior Katherine Sanchez leads the Mavericks with 13 points on a team-high 11 goals with two assists. Sanchez recorded her 200th career point in the game against Le Moyne and has 12 draw controls on the year. Senior Brittani Sergio is second on the team with nine points on eight goals and an assist and sophomore Taylor Bishop has six goals and three assists. The defense is led by sophomore Micayla Brady who has a team-high 11 caused turnovers and 10 ground balls and senior Talia Stagnitta has seven caused turnovers, 10 ground balls and eight draw controls. Sophomore Madeline Garvalosa is 3-0 in goal with 32 saves and a .533 save percentage.
Scouting the Panthers
Florida Tech has gotten off to a 6-1 start and joins the Top 25 in the IWLCA this week. The Panthers are coming off a 17-13 win over Kutztown on Saturday after dropping their first game of the season to Concordia-St. Paul by a score of 11-10. Florida Tech is led by Alexis Townsend who has a team-high 24 goals and 32 points with 13 ground balls and five draw controls. Mollie Kaplan has 18 goals, seven assists and a team-high 34 draw controls. Aleah Fjelstad and Kailee O'Brien both have 23 points and O'Brien also has 26 draw controls and 19 ground balls. The defense is led by Olivia Going who has a team-high 18 caused turnovers and Madison Fields is 4-0 in goal with 26 saves and a .400 save percentage. Chloe Zador is 2-1 in goal with 21 saves and a .457 save percentage.
