Scouting the Mavericks
- Mercy is coming off a 20-6 win over Caldwell on Wednesday. The Mavericks were led by junior Kerri Cummings who had a game-high seven points on two goals and five assists.
- Mercy was picked to finish 1st in the ECC Preseason Poll and junior Micayla Brady was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. The Mavericks went 4-1 during the 2020 COVID-19 shortened season. Mercy went 15-5 during their last full season in 2019 and won their first ECC Championship, making the program's second NCAA Tournament appearance.
- Mercy is currently ranked No. 14 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll and Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Polls.
- Mercy looks to start 3-0 for the sixth straight season.
- Mercy has had five straight winning seasons and have made the ECC Tournament in each of the last four seasons the tournament was held.
- The Mavericks are 6-1 all-time against Roberts Wesleyan, having won the last five meetings. The Redhawks picked up their lone win in the series in 2014. Mercy has won the last two meetings by double-digit goals.
- Sophomore Sydney Corley was named ECC Rookie of the Week after scoring a career-high two goals in the win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Bishop and graduate student Mary Mackie were named to the ECC Honor Roll after Bishop had a career-high five goals and Mackie added three goals and an assist in the win over STAC.
- Mackie, Cummings and Bishop currently have a team-high-tying nine points on the year. Bishop has a team-high nine goals and Mackie has six goals and three assists. Cummings has recorded two goals and dished out a team-high seven assists.
- Junior Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk is fourth on the team with six points by way of three goals and three assists. Senior Briana Corace has added four goals and one assist.
- Brady leads the defense for the Mavericks and helped lead a defense that allowed just six goals in the wins over STAC and Caldwell. The junior has seven ground balls and a team-high seven caused turnovers. Junior Jules Keenan has recorded a goal, two assist, four ground balls, five caused turnovers and a team-high 15 draw controls. Senior Kellie Znaniecki has also played well recording a team-high eight ground balls with 11 draw controls.
- Senior Emma Jacobsen has made the start in goal in both games this season and is 2-0 with a .538 save percentage and seven saves.
- Mercy currently leads Division II in assists per game (14) and points per game (33) and is No. 5 in scoring offense (19).
Scouting the Redhawks
- The Redhawks are coming off a 22-8 win over Notre Dame (Ohio) on Wednesday.
- Roberts Wesleyan was picked second in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 4-1 last year.
- During their last full season in 2019, the Redhawks went 11-6 and qualified for the ECC Tournament.
- Roberts Wesleyan is currently ranked No. 23 nationally in the IWLCA Poll.
- In the teams' last meeting on March 23, 2019, the Mavericks came away with a 19-6 win in Dobbs Ferry.
- The Redhawks are playing their first road game of the year.
- Roberts Wesleyan looks to start 4-0 for the first time since 2019.
- Leading the Redhawks offensively is ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year senior Emily Tomei who is a former ECC Rookie of the Year and two-time All-Conference selection. She has nine goals on the year with seven ground balls and eight draw controls.
- Senior Lindsey Brinkel has a team-high 22 points on nine goals and a team-high 13 assists and one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week junior Madison Bell has recorded seven goals and eight assists. Junior Alexis Grant rounds out three Redhawks with double-digit points with eight goals and four assists on the year.
- One-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week senior Madilynn Walsh has a team-high six caused turnovers and graduate student Jessica Giancursio was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week and has four goals, two assists, nine ground balls and 18 draw controls.
- In goal, Roberts Wesleyan is led by junior Natalie Arieno who is 3-0 with 16 saves, a .421 save percentage and 7.33 goals against average.
