Scouting the Mavericks
- Mercy is coming off an 18-9 victory over Georgian Court on Friday. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Mary Mackie and junior Taylor Bishop who each had five goals.
- Mercy was picked to finish 1st in the ECC Preseason Poll and junior Micayla Brady was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. The Mavericks went 4-1 during the 2020 COVID-19 shortened season. Mercy went 15-5 during their last full season in 2019 and won their first ECC Championship, making the program's second NCAA Tournament appearance.
- Mercy looks to start 7-1 for the first time since 2018.
- Mercy is currently ranked No. 18 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll.
- Mercy has started 6-1 for the first time since 2018.
- Mercy has had five straight winning seasons and have made the ECC Tournament in each of the last four seasons the tournament was held.
- The Mavericks are 8-1 all-time against Bridgeport.
- Graduate student Mary Mackie has been named to the ECC Honor Roll three times and junior Taylor Bishop has been named to the ECC Honor Roll twice. Bishop has a team-high 24 points on a team-high 22 goals to go along with two assists.
- Mackie currently has 14 goals and five assists on the year. Junior Erin Chalich was named the ECC Offensive Player of the Week last week and is fourth on the team with 18 points on six goals and a team-high 12 assists. Junior Kerri Cummings has 14 points on five goals and nine assists.
- Junior Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk was named to the ECC Honor Roll on April 5th and is fourth on the team with 18 points on 11 goals and seven assists. Senior Briana Corace has added 15 goals and four assists. She recorded her 100th career point in the Mavericks win over Georgian Court on April 8th. Sophomore Sydney Corley was named ECC Rookie of the Week on March 15th after scoring a career-high two goals in the win over St. Thomas Aquinas.
- Brady leads the defense for the Mavericks and has been named ECC Defensive Player of the Week twice. The junior has a tean-high-tying 20 ground balls and a team-high 22 caused turnovers. Junior Jules Keenan was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday and has recorded six goals, four assists, 14 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and 30 draw controls. Senior Kellie Znaniecki has also played well recording 20 ground balls with a team-high 35 draw controls.
- Senior Emma Jacobsen has made the start in goal in all seven games this season and is 6-0 with a .511 save percentage and 24 saves. She was named to the ECC Honor Roll on April 5th. Junior Madeline Garvalosa is 0-1 in goal with 23 saves and a .511 save percentage in seven games.
Scouting the Purple Knights
- Bridgeport last played on Saturday, April 10th and fell 16-4 to St. Thomas Aquinas.
- The Purple Knights were picked fifth in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 5-1 during the 2020 shortened season.
- During their last full season in 2019, the Purple Knights went 8-9 and lost in the First Round of the ECC Tournament.
- Bridgeport picked up their lone on March 20th in their season opener against D'Youville, earning a 10-9 overtime win.
- The Purple Knights lone win against the Mavericks came on March 28, 2015 at Bridgeport.
- Bridgeport is led on offense by Tereza Kreuzova who has a team-high-tying four goals and a team-high 11 draw controls on the year. Courtney Hylok has a team-high five caused turnovers and has netted four goals and six ground balls.
- Jessica Kinser has also scored four goals and Addison Plume has a team-high six points on four goals and six assists. Giselle Hall has a team-high 10 ground balls and has two goals and two assists.
- Abbie Jones has made the start in goal in all three games for the Purple Knights and is 1-2 with 30 saves and a .405 save percentage.
