Scouting the Mavericks
- Mercy is coming off a 14-4 victory over Jefferson on Friday. The Mavericks were led by junior Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk who had a career-high four goals in the win.
- Mercy was picked to finish 1st in the ECC Preseason Poll and junior Micayla Brady was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. The Mavericks went 4-1 during the 2020 COVID-19 shortened season. Mercy went 15-5 during their last full season in 2019 and won their first ECC Championship, making the program's second NCAA Tournament appearance.
- Mercy looks to start 5-1 for the first time since 2018.
- Mercy is currently ranked No. 18 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll.
- Mercy has started 4-1 for the second straight year.
- Mercy has had five straight winning seasons and have made the ECC Tournament in each of the last four seasons the tournament was held.
- The Mavericks are 4-1 all-time against Georgian Court.
- Graduate student Mary Mackie has been named to the ECC Honor Roll twice and junior Taylor Bishop has been named to the ECC Honor Roll once. Bishop has a team-high 15 points on a team-high 14 goals to go along with an assist.
- Mackie currently has nine goals and three assists on the year. Junior Kerri Cummings has 11 points on three goals and a team-high eight assists.
- Junior Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk was named to the ECC Honor Roll on Monday and is second on the team with 14 points on eight goals and six assists. Senior Briana Corace has added 10 goals and one assist. Sophomore Sydney Corley was named ECC Rookie of the Week on March 15th after scoring a career-high two goals in the win over St. Thomas Aquinas.
- Brady leads the defense for the Mavericks and has been named ECC Defensive Player of the Week twice. The junior has 19 ground balls and a team-high 18 caused turnovers. Junior Jules Keenan has recorded five goals, three assists, nine ground balls, eight caused turnovers and a team-high 24 draw controls. Senior Kellie Znaniecki has also played well recording 18 ground balls with 22 draw controls.
- Senior Emma Jacobsen has made the start in goal in all five games this season and is 4-0 with a .576 save percentage and 19 saves. She was named to the ECC Honor Roll on Monday after making 10 saves in two games while allowing just two goals.
Scouting the Lions
- Georgian Court last played on March 18th against Molloy and came away with a 9-8 win.
- The Lions were picked first in the CACC Preseason Poll after going 1-6 during the 2020 shortened season.
- During their last full season in 2019, the Lions went 15-4 and won the CACC Tournament Championship.
- Georgian Court is the three-time defending champions of the CACC and have opened their season with wins over Millersville, Kutztown and Molloy.
- The Lions have played all of their games on the road this season.
- Georgian Court's lone win against the Mavericks in the all-time series came on April 4, 2015.
- The Lions are led by Riley O'Connor who has a team-high nine goals on the year. Madison Heck has a team-high 10 points on eight goals and two assists and Sabrina Chandler has a team-high three assists with six goals. Heck also has a team-high 12 draw controls and Chandler has nine draw controls.
- Alyssa Wahl has a team-high-tying five caused turnovers and Jessica Rogers also has five caused turnovers with six ground balls.
- Alexis Hahn has started all three games in goal for the Lions and is 3-0 with a .491 save percentage and 27 saves. She also has a team-high 15 ground balls and a team-high-tying five caused turnovers.
