Women's Lacrosse Ranked No. 1 in NCAA Regional Rankings

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (May 5, 2021) - The Mercy College women's lacrosse team is ranked No. 1 in the East Region, according to the third NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship East Regional Rankings released earlier today.

Three teams are taken from the East, Atlantic, Midwest and South Regions to make up the tournament field. Mercy looks to make its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance and third appearance overall. The Mavericks previously made the tournament in 2017 and 2019. In 2019, the Mavericks won their first ECC Championship and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Mercy is currently 11-1 and is ranked No. 16 in the latest IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll. The Mavericks won the ECC Regular Season Championship for the second straight year.

Head Coach Dawn Sachs and the Mavericks resume action tomorrow when they host STAC in an ECC Championship Semifinal matchup at 2 p.m.
