WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Nov. 11, 2022) – Mercy College volleyball senior Yarianne Gonzalez (Manati, P.R./Monroe College) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Volleyball Co-Setter of the Year, headlining five Mavericks named to the ECC All-Conference Teams. Seniors Stéphanie Lankhorst (Apeldoorn, Netherlands/Koninklijke Scholengemeenschap Apeldoorn) and Larissa Schneid (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Iowa Western CC) were tabbed to the First Team, Gonzalez, and senior Julia Pomerleau (Portland, Maine/University of Southern Maine) were named to the Second Team. Junior Anyelainy Vizcaino Araujo (Santo Domingo Oeste, D.R./Southwestern CC) received Honorable Mention accolades.
Gonzalez is named Setter of the Year for the first time. The senior receives All-Conference recognition for the second straight year. The setter was named ECC Setter of the Week four times and led the ECC with 9.94 assists per set. Gonzalez also ranked second in the ECC with 706 assists and added 55 kills and 172 digs on the year.
Lankhorst is tabbed All-Conference for the first time. The senior was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week once. The middle blocker had 129 kills with a team-high 54 blocks to go along with 31 aces and a .273 hitting percentage. Lankhorst ranks third in the ECC in blocks per set.
Schneid takes home All-Conference honors for the second straight year. The two-time ECC Player of the Week had a team-high 188 kills with 156 digs and 11 blocks. The outside hitter ranked second in the ECC in kills per set.
Pomerleau receives All-Conference honors for the first time after being named ECC Player of the Week once. The senior led the ECC with a .372 hitting percentage and ranked third on the team with 164 kills. She also was second on the team with 29 blocks.
Vizcaino Araujo is named All-Conference in her first season as a Maverick. The three-time ECC Honor Roll recipient ranks second on the team with 170 kills and has 79 digs and 27 aces.
