DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2022) – The Mercy College men's soccer team has received the program's fifth-ever bid into the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship. The Mavericks earned a No. 4 seed in Super-Region 1 by virtue of going 12-2-5.
The Mavericks advance to the second round of the tournament after being a top six seed. Mercy will host No. 5 seed Davis & Elkins College on Saturday, November 12th at 1 p.m. at Mercy Field.
Franklin Pierce earned the No. 1 seed after going 20-0-1 and will host the winner of No. 8 Notre Dame (Ohio)/No. 9 Saint Rose in a second round game. Charleston (WV) earned the No. 2 seed and will host the winner of No. 7 Queens/No. 10 Adelphi in another second round game. The fourth second round game will be played at Mercyhurst University between No. 3 Mercyhurst and No. 6 Post. The first round games will be played on Thursday, November 10th and the second round games will be played on Saturday.
Mercy earns their third NCAA Tournament appearance in four seasons after winning the ECC Championship for the second time in three seasons yesterday. The Mavericks are currently ranked No. 13 nationally in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll and look to win their first NCAA Tournament game since 2018.
