Scouting the Mavericks
· Mercy is coming off a 16-4 win over Georgian Court on Wednesday. The Mavericks were led by senior Taylor Bishop who had a game-high five points on three goals and two assists. Freshman Lindsey Shimborske had a game-high-tying three caused turnovers and a game-high four ground balls.
· On Monday, Shimborske was named ECC Rookie of the Week and Keenan and senior Micayla Brady were named to the Honor Roll.
· Brady has been named ECC Defensive Player of the Week twice and has been named IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week once. Keenan has been named to the ECC Honor Roll three times and Shimborske has been named to the Honor Roll once.
· Mercy was picked to finish 1st in the ECC Preseason Poll and Brady was selected Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. The Mavericks went 12-2 during the 2021 season, winning the ECC Regular Season Championship and earning their second straight NCAA Tournament berth.
· Mercy is currently ranked No. 12 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Poll.
· Mercy is 34-10 in their last 44 games dating back to the start of the 2019 season. The Mavericks are 16-6 at home during that stretch.
· Mercy has had seven straight winning seasons and have made the ECC Tournament in each of the last six seasons the tournament was held.
· The Mavericks are 1-2 all-time against Bentley. Mercy earned a 10-9 win at Bentley on February 29, 2020 in the teams' last meeting.
· Head Coach Dawn Sachs is just three wins shy of 100 for her career. She currently holds a 97-53 record in 10 seasons as head coach.
· Keenan leads the Mavericks with 23 points on a team-high 20 goals with three assists. She also has five ground balls and five caused turnovers. The senior has been named to the ECC Honor Roll three times.
· Senior Taylor Bishop is second on the team with 20 points on 14 goals and six assists. Senior Kerri Cummings is fifth on the team with 11 points by way of four goals and a team-high seven assists. Graduate student Briana Corace has 13 goals and one assist and recorded her 100th career goal in Mercy's win over Assumption on Sunday. She becomes the sixth Maverick in program history to record 100 goals. Senior Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk is fourth on the team with 13 points on nine goals and four assists.
· The defense is led by Brady who was named Second Team All-American by the IWLCA last season and was named Preseason First Team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. She recorded her 100th career caused turnover in the win over Lock Haven on February 24th and has a team-high 16 ground balls, 25 draw controls and 19 caused turnovers. Senior Hunter Savino has 10 ground balls and seven caused turnovers and senior Alexandra Bigilin has eight ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Shimborske ranks second on the team with 13 caused turnovers and 15 ground balls and is third with 15 draw controls.
· Senior Madeline Garvalosa is 4-2 in goal with 43 saves, a .538 save percentage and 7.56 goals-against average.
Scouting the Falcons
· Bentley is coming off an 18-10 win over Molloy on Wednesday.
· The defending NE10 champions were picked fourth in the NE10 Coaches' Poll after going 12-3. The Falcons won their first-ever NE10 championship and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
· The Falcons are currently ranked No. 14 in the IWLCA Poll and No. 17 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll.
· Sophomore Courtney Dermody has a team-high eight points on three goals and a team-high five assists and sophomores Caroline Affolter and Maeve Johnson both have a team-high seven goals. Johnson has a team-high four caused turnovers and Affolter has a team-high 10 draw controls.
· Graduate student Cara McCarthy has six points on five goals and an assist.
· Junior Sydney Lynch and freshman Kat Slattery both have a team-high five ground balls and junior Maya Rose is 2-0 in goal with 20 saves, a .625 save percentage and 6.60 goals-against average.
