WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Sept. 19, 2022) – Mercy College volleyball senior Stéphanie Lankhorst (Apeldoorn, Netherlands/Koninklijke Scholengemeenschap Apeldoorn) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for Week Four and seniors Larissa Schneid (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Iowa Western CC) and Yarianne Gonzalez (Manati, P.R./Monroe College) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll.
Lankhorst had a team-high 16 blocks as Mercy went 2-1 on the week. The senior opened the week with five blocks at RV AIC on Tuesday. The middle blocker then had seven blocks in the win at Pace on Saturday. Lankhorst ended the week with four blocks in the win over Goldey-Beacom. She also had 18 kills on a .256 hitting percentage and added seven service aces on the week.
Schneid had a team-high 39 kills with 16 digs and a .240 hitting percentage as Mercy went 2-1 on the week. The senior opened the week with a team-high 18 kills to go along with five digs at RV AIC on Tuesday. The outside hitter then had seven kills in the win at Pace on Saturday before ending the week with a match-high 14 kills to go along with nine digs in the win over Goldey-Beacom.
Gonzalez had a team-high 101 assists with 13 digs and nine kills as Mercy went 2-1 on the week. The senior opened the week with 37 assists, three kills and three digs at RV AIC on Tuesday. The setter then had a match-high 26 assists with seven digs in the win over Pace on Saturday. Gonzalez ended the week with a match-high 38 assists with three digs and three kills in the win over Goldey-Beacom.
The award is the second for Lankhorst and the third for both Schneid and Gonzalez. Mercy has now earned 10 awards on the year.
Head Coach Ana Todorovic and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday, September 24th when they host Roberts Wesleyan at 12 p.m.
