DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 27, 2023) – The Mercy University volleyball team has received the program's sixth-ever bid into the 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship. The Mavericks earned the No. 7 seed in the East Region by virtue of going 14-8, qualifying for the ECC Championship for the fourth straight season. Mercy has earned their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2005. All matches for the East Region will take place at top-seeded Adelphi University.
Mercy will now face No. 2 seed University of New Haven in a First Round matchup on Thursday, November 30th at Adelphi University at 12 p.m. The Mavericks last faced the Chargers in 2019 with New Haven earning a 3-1 win. New Haven is 23-9 and won the NE10 Championship on Saturday at Adelphi.
The Mavericks are making their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 18 years. Mercy advanced to the National Quarterfinals in 2001. The Mavericks have their most wins since 2019 and have been led by ECC Player of the Year senior Larissa Schneid and ECC Setter of the Year Yarianne Gonzalez.
