Scouting the Mavericks
· Mercy is coming off a 15-9 win over RV Bloomsburg on March 8th. The Mavericks were led by sophomore Leena Moussa who had a team-high three goals.
· Sophomore Lindsey Shimborske was tabbed to the ECC Honor Roll on Monday.
· Shimborske was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week last Monday for the third straight week and graduate student Micayla Brady was tabbed to the Honor Roll. Sophomore Leena Moussa has been named to the ECC Honor Roll twice and graduate student Emma Rippon was tabbed to the Honor Roll on February 20th.
· Moussa has a team-high 14 goals and 15 points on the year with one assist and three draw controls. Graduate student Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk is second on the team with 10 goals. She recorded her 100th career point in the win over Franklin Pierce on February 18th. Sophomore Leah Hansen has seven goals and Rippon has seven goals, an assist and nine draw controls. Graduate student Jaclyn Grzelaczyk is second on the team with 13 points on five goals and a team-high eight assists. Freshmen Maeghan Callow has two goals and an assist and Andrea Mott also has scored a goal with an assist. Lindsey Shimborske has two goals and two assists.
· Senior Erin Shimborske is second on the team with five assists with five goals, 12 ground balls and six caused turnovers. Lindsey Shimborske has a team-high 21 caused turnovers, 14 ground balls and 21 draw controls. Graduate student Micayla Brady is second on the team with 13 caused turnovers and has nine ground balls.
· Junior Olivia Maute is 2-2 in goal with 24 saves, a .414 save percentage and 9.71 goals-against average in 210 minutes of action. Freshman Olivia LaMonica made five saves in the second half of the win over Assumption on March 1st to earn her first collegiate win.
· The Mavericks are 0-2 all-time against Florida Southern and 0-1 against Tampa.
· Mercy is ranked No. 13 nationally in the IWLCA poll and No. 14 nationally in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine poll.
· Mercy won their third straight ECC Regular Season Championship and second ECC Tournament Championship last season.
· The Mavericks qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season and fourth time overall.
· Mercy is 47-15 in their last 62 games dating back to the start of the 2019 season.
· Mercy has had eight straight winning seasons and have made the ECC Tournament in six straight years.
· The Mavericks were picked first in the ECC Preseason Poll and Brady was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
· Brady was also named USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Second Team All-American after being named Third Team All-American by the publication last season.
· Brady and Lindsey Shimborske were named Second Team All-Region last season by the IWLCA.
· Brady was named ECC Defender of the Year and Shimborske was tabbed Rookie of the Year last season. Leading the All-Conference returners for the Mavericks are Brady, Shimborske and junior Kelly Rosenfeld who were named First Team All-ECC. Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk, graduate student Alexandra Bigilin, Erin Shimborske and junior Christina Lopreato also return after being named Second Team All-ECC last season.
Scouting the Mocs
· Florida Southern is coming off a 14-12 win over #6 Pace on Sunday.
· The Mocs were picked tied for first in the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll after going 16-4 last season, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.
· Florida Southern has won one National Championship with that coming in 2016.
· The Mocs are ranked second nationally in the ILWomen/IWLCA poll and No. 3 nationally in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine poll.
· Florida Southern is led by Jackie Stoller who has a team-high 31 points on a team-high 18 goals and 13 assists. Hailey Daleo has 17 goals and five assists and Giana Murphy has 14 goals and eight assists.
· Lizzy Lynch has 13 goals and nine assists and Gina Verrone has a team-high 21 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and 34 draw controls.
· Ellie Griffin has nine goals, five assists, seven caused turnovers, 12 ground balls and 20 draw controls.
· Rylie Rittberg is 5-0 in goal with 35 saves, a .432 save percentage and 10.71 goals-against average. McKenzie Gaghan is 2-0 in goal with eight saves, a .229 save percentage and 12.25 goals-against average.
Scouting the Spartans
· Tampa is coming off a 16-12 win over No. 12 Wingate on March 6th.
· The Spartans were picked tied for first in the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll after going 11-8 last season, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
· Tampa is ranked No. 4 nationally in the ILWomen/IWLCA poll and No. 9 nationally in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine poll.
· The Spartans are led by Sarah Hinkle who has a team-high 26 points on a team-high 23 goals with three assists and a team-high 17 ground balls. Olivia Mott has a team-high 17 assists and is second on the team with 24 points.
· Julia Kolderman is third on the team with 19 points on 17 goals and two assists and Gia Colombo has 11 goals and seven assists.
· Holliston Wagner has a team-high eight caused turnovers with six ground balls and Cece Colombo has a team-high 26 draw controls.
· Alex Walling is 6-1 in goal with 50 saves, a .505 save percentage and 7.26 goals-against average.
