Scouting the Mavericks
· Mercy is coming off a 22-19 win over No. 12 Bentley on Wednesday. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Jaclyn Grzelaczyk who had a game-high 10 points on six goals and four assists.
· Sophomore Lindsey Shimborske was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season on Monday and junior Christina Lopreato was tabbed to the Honor Roll.
· Jaclyn Grzelaczyk was named to the ECC Honor Roll last week.
· Shimborske was tabbed to the ECC Honor Roll on March 13th.
· Shimborske was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week on March 6th for the third straight week and graduate student Micayla Brady was tabbed to the Honor Roll. Sophomore Leena Moussa has been named to the ECC Honor Roll twice and graduate student Emma Rippon was tabbed to the Honor Roll on February 20th.
· Moussa has a team-high 26 goals with one assist on the year and three draw controls. Graduate student Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk is second on the team with 21 goals. She recorded her 100th career point in the win over Franklin Pierce on February 18th. Sophomore Leah Hansen has 10 goals and Rippon has 18 goals, four assists and 24 draw controls. Jaclyn Grzelaczyk leads the team with 32 points on 15 goals and a team-high 17 assists. Freshmen Maeghan Callow has four goals and an assist and Andrea Mott also has scored a goal with an assist. Lindsey Shimborske has two goals and two assists.
· Senior Erin Shimborske is second on the team with seven assists with 12 goals, 20 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Lindsey Shimborske has a team-high 28 caused turnovers, 22 ground balls and 32 draw controls. She recorded her 100th career draw control against Roberts Wesleyan. Graduate student Micayla Brady is second on the team with 20 caused turnovers and has 20 ground balls.
· Junior Olivia Maute is 4-4 in goal with 54 saves, a .362 save percentage and 12.67 goals-against average in 450 minutes of action. Freshman Olivia LaMonica made five saves in the second half of the win over Assumption on March 1st to earn her first collegiate win.
· The Mavericks are 8-6 all-time against Molloy, having won the last eight meetings. Mercy's last loss to Molloy came in 2015.
· Mercy is ranked No. 13 nationally in the IWLCA poll and No. 18 nationally in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine poll.
· Mercy won their third straight ECC Regular Season Championship and second ECC Tournament Championship last season.
· The Mavericks qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season and fourth time overall.
· Mercy is 49-17 in their last 66 games dating back to the start of the 2019 season.
· Mercy has had eight straight winning seasons and have made the ECC Tournament in six straight years.
· The Mavericks were picked first in the ECC Preseason Poll and Brady was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
· Brady was also named USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Second Team All-American after being named Third Team All-American by the publication last season.
· Brady and Lindsey Shimborske were named Second Team All-Region last season by the IWLCA.
· Brady was named ECC Defender of the Year and Shimborske was tabbed Rookie of the Year last season. Leading the All-Conference returners for the Mavericks are Brady, Shimborske and junior Kelly Rosenfeld who were named First Team All-ECC. Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk, graduate student Alexandra Bigilin, Erin Shimborske and junior Christina Lopreato also return after being named Second Team All-ECC last season.
Scouting the Lions
· Molloy is coming off an 18-6 win at Franklin Pierce on Wednesday for their school-record eighth win in a row.
· After starting the season 0-3, the Lions have won eight straight games.
· Molloy was picked third in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 9-8 last season.
· The Lions are led by one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week Megan Rugolo who has a team-high 54 points on 30 goals and 24 assists with 24 draw controls, 18 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Alexa Amorison has 33 points on 17 goals and 16 assists and ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Amanda Weber has 28 goals, 29 points, 46 draw controls and 15 ground balls.
· Kelly Bergersen has 16 goals and seven assists and Carly Howell has a team-high 14 caused turnovers. Howell, Joanna Mauceri and Rugolo all have a team-high 18 ground balls and Weber leads the team in draw controls.
· Mary-Kate Sweeney is 8-3 in goal with 61 saves, a .384 save percentage and 8.87 goals-against average.
