COLONIA, N.J. (Oct. 14, 2024) – Mercy University women's soccer senior Skyler Schwenkler (San Diego, Calif./Grossmont) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Week Six and senior Amiah Washington (Clifton, N.J./University of Bridgeport) and freshman Anneliese Becker (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll.
Schwenkler recorded a goal in Mercy's 3-0 non-conference win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday and helped lead a Mercy backline that posted two shutouts and surrendered just four shots on goal in two games, including a 2-0 conference win over Staten Island on Saturday. The senior played the full 90:00 in both games.
Washington had a team-high five points on two goals and one assist, with one game-winning goal in a 2-0 week for Mercy. The senior opened the week with a goal in the Mavericks' 3-0 non-conference win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday. Washington ended the week with the game-winning goal to go along with an assist in Mercy's 2-0 conference win over Staten Island on Saturday.
Becker went 2-0 with two shutouts and four saves on the week. The freshman goalkeeper opened the week with four saves to earn the 3-0 non-conference win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday before posting her second clean sheet of the week with a 2-0 conference win over Staten Island.
The award is the second for Schwenkler this season, the first for Washington and the fourth for Becker. Mercy has now earned 18 awards on the year.
Head Coach Jack Nicholson and the Mavericks resume action on Wednesday when they play at Dominican at 3:30 p.m.
