Hanken Tjostheim, Holland and Van Buren Named D2CCA Men's Soccer All-Region

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 26, 2024) – Mercy University men's soccer junior Johannes Hanken Tjostheim (Aalesund, Norway/Spring Hill College) and senior Julian Holland (Tokyo, Japan/Iowa Western CC) have been named Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Men's Soccer First Team All-East Region and graduate student Benjamin Van Buren (Anderson, S.C./USC Upstate) has been tabbed Second Team All-East Region, as announced by the organization earlier today.

Hanken Tjostheim is named All-Region for the second straight year by the D2CCA after being a Second Team recipient last season. The ECC Offensive Player of the Year had a team-high 50 points on 22 goals and six assists, tying the single-season school record for goals. The junior ranks second in Division II in goals per game (1.29), third in points per game (2.94) and fourth in goals and points. The two-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week during the season was named First Team All-ECC for the second straight year and recorded at least one point in 12 of 17 matches this fall. Hanken Tjostheim had a career-high four goals in the win over Staten Island and recorded his 100th career point during the season.

Holland is tabbed First Team All-Region by the D2CCA for the second straight year. The ECC Defensive Player of the Year recorded nine points on two goals and five assists. The one-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week was also named First Team All-ECC for the second straight year. Holland helped lead a Mercy backline that posted seven shutouts and allowed just 17 goals in 17 games.

Van Buren receives D2CCA First Team All-Region for the second time in his career after earning the accolade in 2022. The graduate student was named First Team All-ECC for the second time in his career and was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week once during the season. Van Buren recorded an assist in the win at Daemen and helped lead a Maverick backline that had seven shutouts and allowed 17 goals in 17 games.
