WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Apr. 15, 2024) – Mercy University women's lacrosse junior Leena Moussa (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week and senior Christina Lopreato (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) has been named Defensive Player of the Week for Week Nine. Junior Leah Hansen (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) and sophomore Andrea Mott (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) were tabbed to the Honor Roll.
Moussa had a team-high 15 points on a team-high 10 goals with five assists as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week with a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists in Mercy's 17-13 conference win over Molloy on Wednesday. Moussa ended the week with four goals and two assists, recording her 100th career goal, in Mercy's 18-8 conference win over D'Youville on Friday.
Lopreato anchored Mercy to a pair of ECC wins last week as the Mavericks improved to 4-0 in conference play. The Mercy senior posted a team-high 14 draw controls to go with four ground balls and four caused turnovers alongside just one turnover of her own as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The graduate student opened the week with three caused turnovers, seven draw controls, and two ground balls with zero turnovers in the win over Molloy on Wednesday. Lopreato ended the week with seven draw controls, one caused turnover, and two ground balls in the win over D'Youville on Friday.
Hansen had eight goals, one assist and nine points as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week with three goals in the Mavericks' win over Molloy on Wednesday. Hansen ended the week with a game-high five goals with one assist in Mercy's win over D'Youville on Friday. Hansen recorded her 100th career goal in the win over the Saints.
Mott had 10 points on a team-high seven assists to go with three goals and seven ground balls as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with two goals and six ground balls in Mercy's win over Molloy on Wednesday. Mott ended the week with a goal and game-high seven assists in Mercy's win over D'Youville on Friday.
The award is the third for Moussa this season, the first for Lopreato, the fifth for Hansen and the third for Mott. Mercy has now earned 19 awards on the year.
