Women's Lacrosse Receiving Votes Nationally in Final ILWomen/IWLCA Top 25 Poll

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (May 28, 2024) – The Mercy University women's lacrosse team is receiving votes nationally in the final ILWomen/IWLCA Division II Top 25 poll.

Mercy is receiving votes after going 9-10, qualifying for the ECC Championship for the eighth straight season. The Mavericks advanced to the ECC Championship Final for the seventh straight season and faced seven teams that made the NCAA Tournament.

The Mavericks were led by IWLCA First Team All-American and ECC Defender of the Year junior Lindsey Shimborske who had a team-high 58 ground balls, 114 draw controls and 41 caused turnovers in 18 games. Also helping lead Mercy was junior Leah Hansen who was named IWLCA Second Team All-Region after leading the Mavericks with 65 goals and 73 points. Junior Leena Moussa was named First Team All-ECC and was second on the team with 72 points on 52 goals and 20 assists. Senior Christina Lopreato and graduate student Erin Shimborske were both named First Team All-ECC in their final seasons as Mavericks and combined for 15 goals, 11 assists, 26 points, 52 ground balls, 29 caused turnovers and 77 draw controls.
