WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (May 6, 2024) – Mercy University baseball junior Jaden Caballero (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy), sophomore John Nisco (Tarrytown, N.Y./Sleepy Hollow) and freshman Nevin Scaperotti (Stormville, N.Y./Carmel) have been named to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Honor Roll for Week 12.
Caballero hit a team-high .529 (9-for-17) with a team-high five RBI, four runs, two doubles, and one home run in four games. The junior went 4-for-8 with an RBI in the doubleheader against D'Youville on Friday. The outfielder then went 2-for-5 with four RBI and a home run against the Saints on Saturday. Caballero ended the week going 3-for-4 with two runs in Mercy's win over the Saints on Sunday.
Nisco hit .412 (7-for-17) with three RBI, three runs, one double and one triple in four games. The sophomore went 4-for-8 with a run in the doubleheader against the Saints on Friday. The outfielder ended the week going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs in the win over D'Youville on Sunday.
Scaperotti tossed 8.1 innings with three runs and five hits allowed to go along with seven strikeouts against regionally-ranked D'Youville on Friday. The freshman held the Saints potent offense scoreless until the ninth inning.
The award is the third for Caballero this season, the first for Nisco and the sixth for Scaperotti. Mercy has now earned 28 awards on the year.
