(Nov. 18, 2025) – The No. 1 seeded Mercy University Volleyball Team hosts No. 4 seeded D'Youville in an ECC Women's Volleyball Championship Semifinal matchup on Friday, November 21st at 4 p.m. The winner of Friday's match will play the winner of No. 2 Molloy/No. 3 Molloy in the Final on Saturday, November 22nd at 5 p.m. at the Judge Athletic Center.

Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is coming off a 3-2 win over Molloy on Saturday, securing their first ECC Regular Season Championship since 2001. The Mavericks were led by sophomore Grace Dilena and junior Adriana Rivera Rodriguez who both had double-doubles. Mercy went 16-11 last season, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. The Mavericks have qualified for the ECC Championship for the sixth straight season and finished as Runner-Up for the first time since 2005 last year. Head Coach Ana Todorovic and the Mavericks were picked first in the ECC Preseason Poll. Leading the returners for the Mavericks is junior Adriana Rivera Rodriguez who was named ECC Setter of the Year and AVCA First Team All-Region in 2024 after recording 1,031 assists, 183 digs and 44 blocks last season. Senior Gabriela Bieniek also returns after being named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention last year. Bieniek ended the 2024 season with 333 kills, 55 aces and 222 digs. Sophomore Grace Dilena returns after being named ECC Rookie of the Year last season. Dilena finished with 334 kills and 211 digs in 2024. Senior Samantha Cooney is back after posting 122 digs and 10 aces and senior Marichelle Rodriguez returns after recording 17 aces last season. Juniors Mia Illes-Hair and Janneliz Rodriguez Fuentes are back after combining for 164 kills and 99 blocks last season. Todorovic will also rely upon freshmen Isabella Brown, Ella Buonauro, Kori Sessions, Sophia Chapman, Kamila Colon Estades and Sophia Stack.
Mercy is making their sixth straight ECC Championship appearance and secured their first ECC Regular Season Championship since 2001. The Mavericks are looking to advance to the Final for the second straight year. Mercy looks to win the ECC Championship for the fourth time. The Mavericks previously won the championship in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Senior Gabriela Bieniek was named ECC Player of the Week on Monday, junior Adriana Rivera Rodriguez was named ECC Setter of the Week, freshman Kamila Colon was named Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore Grace Dilena and junior Mia Illes-Hair were named to the Honor Roll. Bieniek was named ECC Co-Player of the Week last week, Rivera Rodriguez was named Setter of the Week and freshman Kamila Colon was tabbed Rookie of the Week. Rivera Rodriguez was named ECC Setter of the Week on November 3rd and Bieniek and junior Mia Illes-Hair were tabbed to the Honor Roll. Rivera Rodriguez and Bieniek were named to the ECC Honor Roll on October 27th. Rivera Rodriguez was named ECC Player of the Week on October 20th, freshman Kamila Colon was named Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore Grace Dilena was named to the Honor Roll. Bieniek was named ECC Player of the Week on October 13th, Illes-Hair was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week and Rivera Rodriguez was named to the Honor Roll. Illes-Hair was named ECC Player of the Week on October 6th, sophomore Grace Dilena was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week and Rivera Rodriguez was named Setter of the Week. Dilena and Rivera Rodriguez were named to the ECC Honor Roll on September 29th. Bieniek and Rivera Rodriguez were named to the ECC Honor Roll on September 22nd. Rivera Rodriguez was named ECC Setter of the Week on September 15th and Bieniek and Dilena were tabbed to the Honor Roll. Bieniek and Rivera Rodriguez were both named to the ECC Honor Roll on September 8th. The Mavericks have been led by Bieniek who has a team-high 333 kills on the year with 151 digs. Bieniek leads the ECC and is ranked No. 14 nationally in kills per set (4.22). Rivera Rodriguez has a team-high 730 assists with a team-high 205 digs and senior Samantha Cooney is fifth on the team with 149 digs. Dilena is second on the team with 291 kills and is third with 176 digs and Illes-Hair has a team-high 78 blocks. Colon ranks second on the team with 177 digs. The Mavericks are off to their best start since 2001. Mercy is currently ranked third in the NCAA East Regional Rankings released on Wednesday. Mercy has their most wins since 2005. The Mavericks fell to D'Youville in the ECC Final in four sets last season. Mercy is 7-4 all-time against D'Youville and is 5-0 all-time at home against the Saints. The Mavericks are 13-26 in their last 39 meetings against Molloy, but have won three of the last four meetings. Mercy is 6-19 all-time against Daemen and swept the regular season series with the Wildcats for the first time this season.
Scouting the Saints
D'Youville is coming off a 3-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan on November 12th for their third straight win. The Saints were picked second in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 13-16 last season, winning their first ECC Championship and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. D'Youville looks to advance to the Final for the second straight year. The Saints are led by Madeline O'Brien who has a team-high 260 kills with 173 digs and 19 blocks. Cameron Ulinski is second on the team with 241 kills and Alina Bertens-Deckart has a team-high 711 assists. Angelyn Jaramillo has a team-high 188 digs and Giselle Ramirez has a team-high 55 blocks.
Scouting the Lions
Molloy is coming off a 3-2 loss at Mercy on Saturday. The Lions were picked tied for fifth in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 14-12 last season. Molloy is making their seventh ECC Championship in eight seasons and previously won the championship in 2017 and 2019. The Lions have appeared in the Final in five of the last seven seasons. Molloy is led by Erin Stanley who has a team-high 236 kills with 66 blocks. Haven Trechter is second on the team with 228 kills and Aria Miller has a team-high 372 digs. Julia Zalta has a team-high 506 assists and Ilaria Chiericati has a team-high-tying 66 blocks.
Scouting the Wildcats
Daemen is coming off a 3-0 win at Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. The Wildcats were picked third in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 17-9 last season, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. Daemen has won four of the last six ECC Championships and have appeared in five of the last eight finals. The Wildcats are led by ECC Preseason Player of the Year Nahirka Malpica who has 271 kills and a team-high 275 digs. Keira Mullen has a team-high 286 kills and Avery Dole has a team-high 428 assists. Solé Rancy has a team-high 104 blocks and Jarielys Giraud is second on the team with 209 digs.
