Kelly and Shimborske Sweep ECC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards; Meyer Tabbed to Honor Roll

COLONIA, N.J. (Apr. 21, 2025) – Mercy University women's lacrosse freshman Ashlinn Kelly (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for Week 10. Senior Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been tabbed Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Kayden Meyer (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) has been named to the Honor Roll.

Kelly had a team-high 13 points on a team-high 10 goals with three assists as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The freshman scored five times in Mercy's 16-12 loss at #9 Pace on Wednesday and followed up with a career-high eight points on five goals and three assists in the 23-2 win over District of Columbia on Saturday. For the week, Kelly shot at 80 percent, scoring five times in 10 attempts at Pace and then five times on just five shots for a perfect 100 percent against UDC.

Shimborske had a team-high 14 draw controls with nine ground balls, three caused turnovers, and a goal to lead Mercy to a 1-1 week. The senior opened the week with seven draw controls, two caused turnovers, a ground ball and a goal at #9 Pace on Wednesday before posting seven draw controls, five ground balls, and a caused turnover in the conference win over District of Columbia on Saturday; Shimborske anchored Mercy's defense as the Mavs allowed just two UDC goals on the afternoon. 

Meyer had 11 points on five goals and six assists as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The freshman opened the week with two goals and an assist at #9 Pace on Wednesday before going off for a career-high eight points on three goals and five assists in Mercy's 23-2 win at UDC on Saturday.

Kelly is named Offensive Player of the Week for the first time and Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season. Kelly has now earned eight awards on the year. Shimborske is named Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and has earned seven awards this year. Meyer has earned four awards this year. Mercy has now earned 29 awards on the year.

Head Coach Dawn Sachs and the Mavericks resume action on Sunday when they host Roberts Wesleyan at 11 a.m.
