COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Baseball senior Kolongi Goins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./FDR) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Player of the Week, and sophomore Ryan DiNapoli (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) has been tabbed Pitcher of the Week for Week One. Freshman Dylan Ruland (Islip, N.Y./Islip) was named to the Honor Roll.
Goins hit a team-high .538 (7-for-13) with four RBI, three runs, two triples and one stolen base as Mercy started the season 3-1 for the first time since 2018. The senior opened the season going 1-for-4 in Mercy's win over Goldey-Beacom on Friday. The outfielder then went 1-for-3 in Mercy's win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday. Goins ended the week going 5-for-5 with four RBI, three runs, two triples and one stolen base in the win over Franklin Pierce on Sunday.
DiNapoli pitched seven shutout innings of relief to earn the win in Mercy's 1-0 14-inning win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday. The sophomore allowed just three hits and struck out three to earn the win.
Ruland pitched 2.1 innings of relief with no earned runs allowed and one strikeout to earn his first collegiate win in his first collegiate game against Franklin Pierce on Sunday.
The awards are the first for all three season and for the Mavericks.
