DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Despite a combined 85 yards receiving from seniors Ancksu Dixon (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) and Rebecca McClure (Canastota, N.Y/Canastota) and a game-high nine flag pulls from sophomore Kaylise McClure (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North), the Mercy University Women's Flag Football Team dropped a 31-0 decision to Long Island University on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Field.
The Mavericks (1-11) end their inaugural season with a loss, while the Sharks (7-9) have won three of their last four games.
Junior Kate Lynne Conklin (Greenvale, N.Y./North Shore) led Mercy with 96 yards passing and 20 yards rushing. Dixon added a team-high 43 yards receiving on six catches to go with two flag pulls and Rebecca McClure added three catches for 42 yards and two flag pulls. Kaylise McClure recorded two catches for four yards and a game-high nine flag pulls. Sophomore Madison Brefka (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse) had one catch for seven yards and two flag pulls. Freshman Gwendolyn Smith (Sound Beach, N.Y./Miller Place) had four flag pulls and sophomore Charlotte Sabert (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Lakeland) and freshman Anna Palmieri (Queens, N.Y.) each had one flag pull. Freshman Imani Fraser (Newark, N.J.) had two pass breakups.
LIU was led by Julia Dank who threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns. E'lise Lyrse had four catches for 104 yards and three touchdowns.
Mercy recorded 116 total yards with 96 yards passing and 20 yards rushing. LIU recorded 211 total yards with 164 yards passing and 47 yards rushing.
