DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Mercy University Women's Lacrosse senior Emily Marino (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) has been named USA Lacrosse Magazine Third Team All-American and sophomore Ashlinn Kelly (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been tabbed Honorable Mention All-American, as announced by the publication earlier today.
Marino is named All-American for the first time in her career. The ECC Defender of the Year and First Team All-ECC selection was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week once and led the team with 37 caused turnovers and 50 ground balls. The senior started all 20 games, was named All-Conference for the third straight year and earned First Team All-ECC honors for the second straight season. She led the ECC in ground balls and was second in caused turnovers. Marino had a season-high five caused turnovers and six ground balls against D'Youville on April 29th. The defender ends her career with 106 ground balls and 75 caused turnovers in 63 games.
Kelly takes home All-American honors for the first time. The ECC Midfielder of the Year and First Team All-ECC honoree started all 20 games and was second on the team with 74 points on 51 goals and 23 assists. The one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week and two-time Defensive Player of the Week also had 42 ground balls, 36 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers. Kelly earned Midfielder of the Year honors for the second straight year. She was second in the ECC in points, third in goals, seventh in assists, fourth in ground balls, and sixth in caused turnovers. The midfielder had a season-high six points on three goals and three assists against Jefferson on April 8th. Kelly currently has 99 goals, 40 assists, 139 points, 65 ground balls, 54 caused turnovers and 51 draw controls in 37 games.
