DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Mercy University Women's Lacrosse seniors Emily Marino (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and Olivia LaMonica (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township), sophomore Ashlinn Kelly (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and freshman Jessica Grzelaczyk (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) have been named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II First Team All-Region and junior Riley Wallace (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and sophomore Kayden Meyer (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) have earned Second Team All-Region honors, as announced by the organization earlier today.
The six All-Region selections are a new program record. The honorees helped lead Mercy to a 16-4 record, their first NCAA Tournament win in program history, their first ECC Championship since 2023 and their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2022.
Marino earns All-Region accolades for the first time in her career. The USA Lacrosse Magazine Third Team All-American, ECC Defender of the Year and First Team All-ECC honoree was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week once and led the team with 37 caused turnovers and 50 ground balls. The senior started all 20 games, was named All-Conference for the third straight year and earned First Team All-ECC honors for the second straight season. She led the ECC in ground balls and was second in caused turnovers. Marino had a season-high five caused turnovers and six ground balls against D'Youville on April 29th. The defender ends her career with 106 ground balls and 75 caused turnovers in 63 games.
LaMonica is named All-Region for the first time in her career. The ECC Goalie of the Year and First Team All-ECC recipient went 13-4 with 127 saves, a .446 save percentage and 10.12 goals-against average in 18 starts. The ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Week was named ECC Goalkeeper of the Week three times after being named Second Team All-ECC last season. She ranked third on the team with 41 ground balls and was second in the ECC in save percentage. LaMonica had a season-high 13 saves in the win over Assumption on February 28th. The senior ends her career with a 29-14 record, 349 saves, a .448 save percentage and 9.68 goals-against average.
Kelly takes home First Team All-Region honors after being named Second Team All-Region last year. The USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American, ECC Midfielder of the Year and First Team All-ECC honoree started all 20 games and was second on the team with 74 points on 51 goals and 23 assists. The one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week and two-time Defensive Player of the Week also had 42 ground balls, 36 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers. Kelly earned Midfielder of the Year honors for the second straight year. She was second in the ECC in points, third in goals, seventh in assists, fourth in ground balls, and sixth in caused turnovers. The midfielder had a season-high six points on three goals and three assists against Jefferson on April 8th. Kelly currently has 99 goals, 40 assists, 139 points, 65 ground balls, 54 caused turnovers and 51 draw controls in 37 games.
Grzelaczyk receives All-Region recognition following her first season as a Maverick. The ECC Attacker and Rookie of the Year and First Team All-ECC recipient started all 20 games and had a team-high 77 points on 43 goals and a team-high 34 assists to go with 15 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. The two-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of Week led the ECC in points, was fourth in goals, and second in assists. She had a career-high 11 points on three goals and eight assists in the win over D'Youville on April 29th.
Wallace is named All-Region for the first time after being named First Team All-ECC for the second straight year. The junior appeared in all 20 games and had 41 goals, 10 assists, 51 points, 25 ground balls, 20 caused turnovers and 48 draw controls. She ranked sixth in the ECC in draw controls. The ECC Championship's Most Outstanding Player had a season-high five goals in the ECC Championship win over Roberts Wesleyan on May 2nd. Wallace has 102 goals, 24 assists, 126 points, 107 draw controls, 50 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers in 55 games.
Meyer takes home All-Region honors for the first time. The First Team All-ECC selection started all 20 games and had 58 goals, 16 assists, 74 points, 28 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers and 26 draw controls. The three-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week led the team in goals and was tied for second in points. Meyer was second in the ECC in goals and second in points. The attacker had a season-high six goals in the win over D'Youville on April 29th. Meyer has 96 goals, 30 assists, 126 points, 38 ground balls, 28 draw controls and 27 caused turnovers in 37 games.
