DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy University Women's Lacrosse Team has received the program's fifth-ever bid into the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Mavericks earned the No. 3 seed in the East Region by virtue of going 15-3, winning their first ECC Championship since 2023. Mercy has earned their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2022.
Mercy will now face No. 6 seed Southern Connecticut State University in a First Round matchup on Thursday, May 7th at 4 p.m. at No. 2 seed Pace University. The Mavericks defeated the Owls 15-14 on March 11th in New Haven. The winner of Thursday's game will play at No. 2 seed Pace on Saturday, May 9th.
The Mavericks are making their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Mercy looks to win their first-ever NCAA Tournament game. The Mavericks have their most wins since 2019. ECC Coach of the Year Dawn Sachs and the Mavericks have been led by ECC Attacker and Rookie of the Year freshman Jessica Grzelaczyk, ECC Goalie of the Year senior Olivia LaMonica, ECC Defender of the Year senior Emily Marino and ECC Midfielder of the Year sophomore Ashlinn Kelly.
