Women's Soccer Ranked Second in NCAA Regional Rankings

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 24, 2018) - The Mercy College women's soccer team has been ranked second in the second week of NCAA East Regional Rankings, which are used to determine at-large bids for the NCAA Championship.

The Mavericks drop one spot in the rankings after going 1-1 with a loss at Roberts Wesleyan and a win over NYIT. Eight teams are taken from the East Region to make up the tournament field. The ECC, CACC and NE-10 conference tournament winners earn automatic bids, leaving five at-large bids into the tournament. Mercy looks to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year after reaching the Final Four a year ago. The Mavericks currently sit at 11-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in ECC action. Mercy has secured their sixth straight ECC Tournament appearance and with a win on Saturday would be guaranteed of hosting an ECC Semifinal game on Tuesday, October 30th.

Head Coach Jim O'Brien and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday, October 27th when they host Lincoln for Senior Day at 12 p.m.
