DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 2, 2019) – Mercy College Women's Soccer Assistant Coach Danny Leon Jr. has been named Interim Head Coach for the women's soccer program, effective immediately.

"Danny deserves this opportunity due to his dedication and service to Mercy College and both soccer programs," said Director of Athletics Matt Kilcullen Jr.

"It is a real honor to be the Interim Head Coach at the school that I played for and for which I started my collegiate coaching career. I would like to thank both Bill Sullivan and Matt Kilcullen for the support and opportunity they have given me throughout my tenure as a Maverick," stated Leon Jr.

Leon Jr. has served as an assistant coach for the Mavericks each of the last four seasons and has been on staff for two NCAA appearances, including Mercy's run to the Final Four in 2017. Leon Jr. is a Mercy alum having been a four-year member of the Mercy College men's soccer team. He appeared in 68 games, ranking second in program history in games played. Leon Jr. ended his career with 14 goals and ten assists.
