DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 29, 2022) – Mercy College women's soccer graduate student Sydney Cooper (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos) has been named to the 2022 United Soccer Coaches Division II All-East Region First Team and graduate student Nikki Bermudez (Oceanside, N.Y./New York Tech), junior Kayla Camacho (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream) and freshmen Kamy Anaya (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly) and Ancksu Dixon (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) were tabbed to the Second Team.
Cooper receives All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches for the third straight season and takes home First Team honors for the first. She was previously named D2CCA First Team All-Region earlier this month. The defender was named the ECC Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight year and was named All-Conference for the fourth straight season. With the help of Cooper, Mercy conceded just eight goals during the regular season, good for an 0.53 goals-against average which led the ECC and ranked 18th in the nation. Cooper also contributed with two goals, three assists and seven points on the season.
Bermudez takes home All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches for the second straight season. She was previously named D2CCA First Team All-Region earlier this month. The midfielder was named ECC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ECC. The graduate student ranked fourth in the ECC in goals (9), third in assists (7) and third in points (25). She also ranked second in the ECC with three game-winning goals and was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week once.
Camacho is named All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches for the first time. She previously was named Second Team All-Region by the D2CCA earlier this month. The First Team All-ECC selection and one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week tied for the ECC lead with 11 goals and was second in the conference with 27 points.
Anaya receives All-Region accolades from the United Soccer Coaches in her first season as a Maverick. The freshman was previously named Second Team All-Region by the D2CCA. The goalkeeper was named ECC Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-ECC. The two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week led the ECC in goals-against average (0.70) and was third in save percentage (.789). She tied for the ECC lead with nine shutouts and went 13-3-2 in goal with 45 saves.
Dixon is tabbed All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches in her first season as a Maverick. She previously was named Second Team All-Region by the D2CCA. The freshman was tabbed ECC Rookie of the Year and First Team All-ECC after tying the school record with 33 points on the year. The forward led the ECC in goals (11) and points and was second in assists (11). Dixon was named ECC Rookie of the Week once and ECC Offensive Player of the Week twice.
