COLONIA, N.J. (Apr. 28, 2025) – Mercy University baseball freshman Andre Jenkins (Chester, N.Y./Chester Academy) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Rookie of the Week for Week 10 and sophomore Peyton Jemison (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) and juniors Zach Ashline (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) and Diego Wirz (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll.
Jenkins pitched 7.1 innings with no earned runs allowed and three strikeouts to earn the win at Queens on Friday.
Jemison hit a team-high .520 (13-for-25) with five runs, seven RBI, one home run and one double as Mercy went 3-2 on the week. The sophomore opened the week going 2-for-5 with a run in the win over New Haven on Tuesday before going 3-for-5 with an RBI in the win at Queens on Friday. The third baseman then went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI against Queens on Saturday. Jemison ended the week going 5-for-10 with five RBI, a home run and two runs in the split at Queens on Sunday.
Ashline hit .400 (8-for-20) with a team-high three home runs to go with seven RBI, five runs, and three doubles as Mercy went 3-2 on the week. The junior opened the week going 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in the win over New Haven on Tuesday. The designated hitter then went 1-for-4 in the win at Queens on Friday before going 1-for-5 with two RBI and a home run against Queens on Saturday. Ashline ended the week going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run in the game one win at Queens on Sunday.
Wirz went 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA and four strikeouts in 9.1 innings pitched. The junior opened the week pitching 4.1 innings of relief with one run allowed to earn the win against regionally-ranked New Haven on Tuesday. Wirz ended the week pitching 5.0 innings of relief with one run allowed to earn the win in game one at Queens on Sunday.
The award is the fourth for Jenkins this season, the fifth for Jemison, the third for Ashline and the third for Wirz. Mercy has now earned 34 awards on the year.
Head Coach Chris Schoen and the Mavericks resume action tomorrow when they host Adelphi at 3 p.m.
