Scaperotti Named ECC Baseball Pitcher of the Week; Goins Tabbed to Honor Roll

COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Baseball junior Nevin Scaperotti (Stormville, N.Y./Carmel) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for Week Three and senior Kolongi Goins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./FDR) has been tabbed to the Honor Roll.

Scaperotti pitched 7.0 innings with no earned runs allowed, five hits allowed and seven strikeouts to earn the win in Mercy's 6-1 game one win over Southern Connecticut State on Sunday. The junior then went 1-for-3 with an RBI in game two of the day.

Goins hit .429 (3-for-7) with two runs, and two stolen bases in Mercy's split with Southern Connecticut State on Sunday. The senior went 1-for-4 with a run and a stolen base in the 6-1 game one win. The outfielder then went 2-for-3 with a run and a stolen base in game two.

The award is the first for Scaperotti this season and the second for Goins. Mercy has now earned eight awards on the year.

Head Coach Chris Schoen and the Mavericks resume action on Friday, March 6th when they play at Pace for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
