COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Men's Lacrosse sophomore Cole Hunsberger (Waterloo, Ontario/Grand River Collegiate Institute) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, junior Cameron Dorfman (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) has been named Goalie of the Week, and junior Jake Norton (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been tabbed Defensive Player of the Week for Week 11. Senior Jack Agres (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale), sophomore Michael Mitrano (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) and freshman Dillon Halloran (Nesconset, N.Y./Sachem North) received Honor Roll recognition.
Hunsberger had a team-high 13 points on six goals and a team-high seven assists to go with six ground balls as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week recording a game-high and career-high nine points on five goals and four assists to go with four ground balls in the win over Bridgeport on Wednesday. Hunsberger ended the week with a goal and three assists to go with two ground balls in the win over D'Youville on Saturday.
Norton had a team-high 15 ground balls with two caused turnovers and a goal as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week with eight ground balls, two caused turnovers and a goal in the win over Bridgeport on Wednesday. Norton ended the week with seven ground balls in the win over D'Youville on Saturday.
Dorfman went 2-0 in goal with 20 saves, a .625 save percentage and 8.00 goals-against average. The junior opened the week with 15 saves and just eight goals allowed in Mercy's 17-8 win over Bridgeport on Wednesday. The goalie ended the week with five saves and just four goals allowed in the first half of Mercy's 15-8 win over D'Youville on Saturday.
Agres had 11 points on a team-high seven goals to go with four assists, two ground balls and two caused turnovers as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The senior opened the week with three goals and an assist in the win over Bridgeport on Wednesday. Agres ended the week with a game-high and career-high seven points on Senior Day on four goals and three assists to go with two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win over D'Youville on Saturday.
Mitrano went 19-of-24 on faceoffs with 10 ground balls as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore went 18-of-20 on faceoffs with a game-high nine ground balls in the win over D'Youville on Saturday.
Halloran went 19-of-27 on faceoffs with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The freshman opened the week going 15-of-23 on faceoffs with six ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win over Bridgeport on Wednesday. Halloran ended the week going 4-of-4 on faceoffs with one ground ball in the win over D'Youville on Saturday.
The award is the eighth for Hunsberger this season, the fifth for Dorfman, the first for Norton, the third for Agres, the fourth for Mitrano and the first for Halloran. Mercy has now earned 41 awards on the year.
Head Coach Ryan MacSpadyen and the Mavericks resume action on Wednesday when they host Frostburg State at 12 p.m. in an ECC Championship Semifinal.
