WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Mar. 11, 2024) – Mercy University baseball freshman Nevin Scaperotti (Stormville, N.Y./Carmel) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week and sophomore Zach Ashline (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) has been named to the Honor Roll for Week Four.
Scaperotti pitched 7.2 shutout innings with just three hits allowed and seven strikeouts to earn his first collegiate win at Pace on Friday.
Ashline hit .333 (4-for-12) with a team-high six RBI and two home runs with three runs scored in four games this week. The sophomore opened the week going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored in the Mavericks' win over Pace on Friday. The outfielder then went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a home run at Pace on Saturday before ending the week going 2-for-5 with two RBI and an inside-the-park home run against Pace on Sunday.
The award is the first for Scaperotti and Ashline this season. Mercy has now earned nine awards on the year.
Head Coach Chris Schoen and the Mavericks resume action on Friday, March 15th when they play at Bridgeport at 3 p.m.
