WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Mar. 25, 2024) – Mercy University baseball freshman Nevin Scaperotti (Stormville, N.Y./Carmel) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Rookie of the Week and sophomore Zach Ashline (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) and senior Ryan Rozinski (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) were tabbed to the Honor Roll for Week Six.
Scaperotti opened the week pitching 5.0 innings with one earned run and five hits allowed to go along with five strikeouts to earn the win over CSI on Friday. The freshman also hit .500 (7-for-14) at the plate with three RBI and five runs scored. Scaperotti went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in the game two win over CSI on Friday and went 4-for-9 with two RBI and two runs in the split with CSI on Sunday.
Ashline hit .421 (8-for-19) with a team-high eight runs and two home runs to go along with four RBI, two stolen bases and one double as Mercy went 4-1 on the week. The sophomore opened the week going 2-for-4 with two runs in the win over Dominican on Tuesday. Ashline then went 4-for-8 with four runs, two home runs and four RBI in Mercy's sweep of CSI on Friday. The sophomore ended the week going 2-for-5 with two runs in Mercy's game two win over CSI on Sunday.
Rozinski pitched five shutout innings with just three hits allowed and eight strikeouts to earn the win over CSI on Friday.
The award is the third for both Scaperotti and Ashline this season and the first for Rozinski. Mercy has now earned 15 awards on the year.
Head Coach Chris Schoen and the Mavericks resume action on Thursday, March 28th when they host Queens at 3 p.m.
