WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Apr. 29, 2024) – Mercy University baseball freshman Nevin Scaperotti (Stormville, N.Y./Carmel) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Rookie of the Week and graduate student Nolan Giblin (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) was tabbed to the Honor Roll for Week 11.
Scaperotti allowed just two earned runs and struck out seven in six innings of work to earn his fifth win of the season at STAC on Friday. The freshman also went 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI in game one against STAC on Saturday.
Giblin hit .471 (8-for-17) with a team-high four RBI to go with two runs scored in four games. The graduate student opened the week going 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run in Mercy's win over STAC on Friday. The third baseman then went 3-for-7 with an RBI and a run scored in a doubleheader against STAC on Saturday, setting a school record with his 211th career hit in game two. Giblin ended the week going 1-for-5 with an RBI at STAC on Sunday.
The award is the fifth for Scaperotti this season and the second for Giblin. Mercy has now earned 25 awards on the year.
