Scaperotti Headlines Four Mavericks Named to ECC Baseball All-Conference Teams

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (May 8, 2024) – Mercy University baseball freshman Nevin Scaperotti (Stormville, N.Y./Carmel) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Rookie of the Year, headlining four Mavericks named to the ECC All-Conference Teams. Scaperotti, juniors Alfred Hoti (New York, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) and Jaden Caballero (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) and graduate student Justin Glennerster (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) were named Second Team All-ECC.

Scaperotti is named Rookie of the Year after being named ECC Pitcher of the Week twice and ECC Rookie of the Week twice. The freshman went 5-3 on the mound with a 4.52 ERA in a team-high 67.2 innings pitched with a team-high 52 strikeouts. Scaperotti also hit a team-high .382 with 10 runs, 13 RBI, 26 hits and two doubles. The freshman ranked fifth in the ECC in batting average and in wins. He pitched a complete game with one earned run allowed and eight strikeouts to earn the win over Lincoln on April 19th and pitched 7.2 shutout innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win over Pace on March 8th.

Hoti is tabbed All-Conference for the first time. The junior appeared in 40 games making 33 starts with a .241 average, 28 RBI, two home runs, six doubles, two triples, 21 runs and 27 hits. The one-time ECC Player of the Week ranked fourth on the team in RBI and threw out 18 runners from behind the plate. The catcher went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI in the win over Lincoln on April 20th.

Caballero is named All-Conference for the third straight season after being named Second Team All-ECC last season and First Team All-ECC in 2022. The three-time ECC Honor Roll recipient hit .326 with 31 RBI, 57 hits, 39 runs, 11 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 14 stolen bases. He led the team in runs scored, hits, doubles, and stolen bases. The junior ranked second on the team in RBI and went 2-for-5 with four RBI and a home run against D'Youville on May 4th.

Glennerster receives All-Conference recognition for the first time in his career. The graduate student appeared in and started in 35 games, hitting .350 with 43 hits, seven doubles, 19 RBI, one home run, one triple and 19 runs scored. The two-time ECC Honor Roll recipient went 5-for-6 with four runs and five RBI in Mercy's win over Goldey-Beacom on February 16th and went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the win over D'Youville on May 5th.
